PROF GARY SWARTZ
BAcc, MCom, CA(SA)
Gary has spent more than 13 years in a CTA programme at WITS University. For ten of those years, he was the division head for the Management Accounting and Finance discipline for four years. He also acted as the programme coordinator for the CTA programme. Most recently, from 2013 to 2014, he served as the overall Bachelor of Accounting Science co-ordinator for the WITS programme, which involved responsibility for the programme from 1st to 4th year.

THIRUVEN NAIDOO
BAcc, CA(SA)
Thiruven completed his articles at Standard Bank of South Africa Limited. He joined Credit Suisse Standard Securities as Head of Finance and left in 2008 to take up a full-time lecturing role at Wits, mainly 3rd and 4th-year Corporate Finance. He co-founded Destination CA and the Institute of Accounting Science (IAS) in 2014.

ZANI LABUSCHAGNE
BAcc, MCom, CA(SA)
Zani Labuschagne coordinating the Auditing IV course. She is an ex-WITS trainee who completed her articles at PwC and previously held the position of Assistant Manager at PwC, where she also served as a training resource in their Training and Development division. In 2014, she co-founded Destination CA and the Institute of Accounting Science (IAS)

MAGDA TURNER
BCom, MCom
Magda is the Tax IV lecturer. Her passion for Taxation started when she worked for the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as a company assessor after completing her undergrad and postgrad studies at the University of Pretoria. Her academic career started at Technicon SA (now part of UNISA), a distance provider, whereafter she joined the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) for about 18 years.

DR ELAINE RABIN
BAcc, MCom, Phd, CA(SA)
Dr Rabin was a Professor in Financial Accounting for more than 30 years at WITS University before joining us. She was the financial accounting divisional head, and a member of the senior management team of the school of accounting.

NICOLA GAULDIE
BAcc, MCom, CA(SA)
Nicola worked at Varsity College (Advtech), lecturing and tutoring on Financial Accounting III, Management Accounting, and Finance IV for over ten years. Previously, she spent some time as an accounting teacher and a financial journalist for Moneyweb. She completed her articles at PwC.

DANA NATHAN
BAcc, Mcom, CA(SA)
Dana completed her articles at PWC before moving to WITS University as a lecturer in Financial Accounting. She then moved to the Auditing division, where she lectured and tutored at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She marks extensively on the SAICA ITC and APC exams, including acting as an assistant umpire. Following 12 years at WITS, she started her own business, where she provides student support.

EDWIN HOVE
BAcc, CA(SA)
Edwin studied at the University of Fort Hare and then completed his PGDA at the University of Johannesburg. He articled at Ernst Young then moved to KPMG as a technical manager. He then moved to Edge Business School, where he was Head of the taxation department. He has now joined as a Senior Lecturer in the Taxation Discipline.

Ntsakisi Mkhavele
BAccSci, PGDA , Eligible to register as a CA( SA)
TJ Hill completed his BCom Accounting Sciences, PGDip. Accounting Sciences and MCom Taxation degrees at the University of Pretoria. TJ recently qualified as a CA(SA) after completing his first year of articles as an Academic Trainee at the University of Pretoria and the remainder of his articles at PwC. TJ has a passion for teaching and learning, particularly in the areas of Taxation and Financial Accounting.
Ntsakisi earned her Bachelor of Accounting Science at the University of the Witwatersrand and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting at the Institute of Accounting Science. She is eligible to register as a Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) after completing articles at the University of Pretoria and EY, where she worked in the Energy and Natural Resources sector. Passionate about teaching and learning, Ntsakisi focuses on Auditing and Financial Management, blending academic excellence with industry experience to support student growth.

Nondumiso Mhlongo is a University of Pretoria alumna with a Bachelor of commerce in Accounting Sciences. She completed her PGDA at IAS and has now made a return to give back as an Academic Trainee in the Financial Accounting department. Here she will be helping to enrich minds of future accounting professionals and contributing to their success
Mpho is completing their first year of articles as a Financial Accounting Academic Trainee. With a BAcc from the University of Johannesburg and a PGDA from the Institute of Accounting Science, they are focused on growing their expertise while supporting students in mastering Financial Accounting concepts.
Ndilimeke Albertina Kandonga holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Chartered Accountancy) degree from the University of Namibia and CTA from IAS. She commenced her SAICA traineeship with PwC Namibia in 2025. In 2026, she will commence her SAICA academic traineeship in the Taxation Department at IAS, where she will support the development of future Chartered Accountants while gaining valuable practical and academic experience in the field of taxation.
Rirhandzu Nkuna holds a Bachelor of Accounting in Commerce from Rhodes University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the Institute of Accounting Science. Rirhandzu is currently completing a SAICA- accredited traineeship and will spend the first year of her articles in academia within the Taxation Department, gaining invaluable experience in the application of the tax legislation, technical development and professional judgment while also giving back meaningfully to the academic community, in line with SAICA competency framework, in pursuit of being a well-rounded Chartered Accountant

Danica Shikulo

Danica Shikulo completed her Bachelor of Accounting (Chartered Accountancy) at the University of Namibia and obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) at IAS. She will begin her SAICA academic traineeship in the Management Accounting and Finance department at lAS. She will use this opportunity to learn and improve her skills by gaining valuable experience in the field.

Lindokuhle Matshata
BCom, BCTA, PGDA
Lindokuhle completed her BCom in Accounting at WITS and later obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences after her BCTA (IAS). She is doing her SAICA Academic Articles as an Auditing and Financial Accounting Academic Trainee at IAS.

Melissa Habib
BA
is a versatile professional with a background in psychology, education, and finance. After earning a degree in Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, she taught students with learning disabilities before transitioning into finance. Now at IAS, Melissa applies her expertise across all three fields, bringing a unique, well-rounded perspective to her work. Joining IAS as the Campus Administrator, Melissa brings her diverse expertise to support students and staff effectively
